Gather product / technology / process information from suppliers, evaluate supplier capability&capacity on new product development project

II Supply market research, category management, strategic sourcing

Perform supply market research on market structure, suppliers, supply capacity, changes in technology, regulations, potential expansion, new entries, acquisition&investment

Spend analysis of buying company, future needs assessment, supply maket analysis, segment category, prioritize categories

Develop category supply strategy which is in consisit with buying company's business plan and objectives

III New supplier search, identify, evaluate, audit, selecting, qualification

 

Recognize needs of buying company, review needs and develop specification: performance specification, design specification, product standard

Develop sourcing strategy guiding decisions made when identifying, evaluating, selecting suppliers

Search and identify potential suppliers, perform new supplier survey and on site audit to qualify new supplier based on multiple selection criteria: license and certificate, past experience, technological capability, manufacturing capability&capacity, managerial capability, quality management system, supply chain, finance, customer communication and services

Develop RFI RFP RFQ with suppliers to get market information, product information, quotation

 

 
IV Supplier quality management, quality control, quality improvement

 

Audit and evaluate new supplier's quality assurance system ISO9000, engineering capability, manufacturing process capability, product quality level to determine if supplier can continuously delivery products on stable quality level

Perform quality planning with supplier, design quality control, QFD, DFMEA, technique review, process design and evaluation, initial sample inspection, trial run process evaluation&improvement, mass production approval

Manage ongoing quality, process and SOP review, quality control plan, in-process quality control, finish product quality inspection, pre-shipment quality inspection, resolve quality deviation

Develop quality improvement program, resolve quality complain with adequate correction and prevention actions, reduce quality cost

 
V Price and cost management

 

Perform adequate price and cost analysis, understand the fair and reasonable price of the purchased product on the market

Develop price reduction, cost saving, cost avoidance program with suppliers, perform total cost of ownership analysis to address high cost and optimize total cost structure continuously

Perform VAVE (value analysis / value engineering) to identify opportunities to reduce the cost of purchased products and avoid cost on new products

 
VI Supply contract management, purchase order fulfilment, supply continuity

 

Develop contract / agreement between buying company and supplier to define role&responsibility job service to be performed

Negotiate and sign master purchase agreement on which includes general terms and conditions, payment term, warranty, business continuity, insurance, shipping, delivery, NDA etc.

Contract administration: assure supplier comply with the contract requirements, control and evaluate the execute performance of contract, correct deviation instantly

Resolve disputes and conflicts arising during contract about quality, delivery, order change, payment, shipment etc.

 

 
VII Supply relationship management, supplier performance management and improvement

 

Develop goodwill and keep positive relationship with suppliers, building mutual trust and confidence for long term business

Segment suppliers: qualified supplier, approved supplier, prefered supplier, partnered supplier, and manage supplier relationship appropriately

Evaluate supplier ongoing performance on a regular basis by using key indicators: quality, delivery, cost, production capacity, flexibility, technique support, customer relationship etc.

Implement supplier development program, quality system improvement, managerial capability improvement, engineering capability improvement etc.

 

 
VIII Supplier sustainability and corporate social responsibility

 

Monitor suppliers' social responsibility / sustainability activities and practices like employment, worker health and safety, green design, product liability, air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, business ethics, compliance etc.

Report and ask for correction&improvement when violations found within supply chain
